HR - Set default current payroll to Hourly
During setup - an organization should have the option under Current Payroll to define the default to hourly and on occasion to salary when needed. Our employee base of 389 is set primarily hourly with EWS timesheets for grant purposes and auditor reporting.

Our employer does not use the salary option in the HR Management>Current Pay tab. All employees are set up with an hourly wage that is derived from an annual amount. This structure is necessary because many or our positions are grant-funded and require detailed timekeeping and precise allocation of hours by funding source.
Setting "hourly" as the system default reduces the risk of error and eliminates an extra step for HR during the on boarding process. Since the transition to Sage>MIP>Abila in 2009, new hires have occasionally been left with the default "salary" designation, causing Payroll to notify HR to correct the record hourly. As an organization decision, establishing hourly as the auto-default prevents these recurring corrections. -

Janine Allen, Sr. Product Manager, MIP AdminHi Tina,
Can you provide us with a more detailed example of what you are trying to accomplish with a default setup to hourly that can be changed on occasion to salary?
Thank you,
Janine
