VENDOR ID FIELD = NUMBER ONLY OPTION

VENDOR ID FIELD = NUMBER ONLY OPTION. Currently the vendor ID field is a text format. We would like to have the option of it being numeric only or text. Then, if choosing numeric only option, the system would automatically assign the next number by using the + key. We would save time and prevent errors by no longer having to maintain and consult a manual listing of recently added vendors.
