Distribution Code Versions and Use

I would like the system to keep prior versions of distribution codes when existing distribution codes are changed. Once the existing codes are updated the system would give a date/time range of when the codes were in use. There would just be an additional field box in the distribution code maintenance that would allow users to select prior versions if users wanted to view the prior versions, but only the most current version would be active. This would allow users to run reports listing all the versions that were used in certain timeframes, and would allow your software to include distribution codes used in transactions in various reporting. We regularly have questions from federal grantors on how transactions were split when using distribution codes, why the software can't run reports to show it, and we have to provide answers.
